Can I play single player?

Yes! Single player challenge missions are accessible from the main menu. They are short replayable missions intended to showcase the most fun mechanics of the game, and offer a more rewarding solo experience.

But I can still play multiplayer with my friends right?

Absolutely – just have one player set up as the host, and team up against the Obscurity (or… each other!)

What platforms can I play on?

Obscurity: Unknown Threat currently supports Windows.

Do you have Steam Deck support?

The game already runs nicely and is fully playable on Steam Deck. Check out our latest info on Steam Deck compatibility.

Is this game related to The Hidden: Source mod for Half Life 2?

No – we started development on a PC Call of Duty 4 mod called Obscurity back in 2008, inspired by the original Predator movie. And then we came across The Hidden partway into making it (gave it a go and it was pretty awesome!).

Is this game related to Obscurity Mod for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare?

Yes! We are the original developers of that mod. We’re now turning the best ideas from those mods into a full standalone game.

Who’s the team behind Obscurity: Unknown Threat?

Obscure Creations is a small two person team based in Australia. We started working together on a total conversion Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare mod called Obscurity Mod, which became very popular, as well as a couple of other mods such as HitLoc. We’re now turning the best ideas from those mods into a full standalone game!

When will the game be released?

Obscurity: Unknown Threat officially launched into Early Access release on Steam on Tuesday 22nd September 2026.

We anticipate being in Early Access for approximately 1-2 years before our full release.
